A few days ago I was only known as “Sarah” or “Mommy”, but after painting this massive canvas I’ll now happily respond to Monet, Picasso and/or Van Gogh. And don’t even @ me about needing a slice of humble pie. Maybe in a couple days I’ll tone it down, maybe I’ll stay on this Kanye-level vanity tour forever, okurrr?!

I also feel inclined to point out that I don’t consider myself to be crafty, DIY savvy or artistic in the least, so if this is a project you wanna attempt, I encourage you to give it a try! You might be more capable than you think!

I already had this canvas that I got from Homegoods, but after wanting something more neutral and subtle, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I taped off the wood frame and used Sherwin Williams – Zurich White as the base coat (that’s the color of our walls so I knew it would compliment the space well). After I fully saturated the canvas, I added small strokes of Behr- Pure Earth and blended it while the base coat was still wet. If you’re looking for a more stark contrast, wait until the base coat dries to apply your second color.

Now obviously an actual artist doesn’t use wall paint when creating canvas art, but as I previously mentioned – I’m not an artist and wanted a quick fix without having to head out for supplies. Ultimately, it worked out and I’m pretty freaking thrilled with how it turned out!

So… watcha think? Will you give canvas painting a try?
