“It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to” would have been a better theme than unicorns this year, but hey… can’t win ’em all!
Maisie turned 3 on Friday, and I kid you not she literally dove head first into the dreaded “threenager” stage overnight. We’ve got some BIG feelings going on over here, and unfortunately that translated to an abundance of sass, attitude and frustration on her special days. *Insert eye roll here* But the show must go on! So, despite failing to impress our tiny dictator, I’m sharing the deets on her unicorn themed party that came out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself!
When it comes to kid’s parties, it’s easy to want to splurge on tons of cute little party items and the cost can quickly add up. As much as I want to create something special for my babies, I don’t need to spend a small fortune on a party she’ll never remember. (Just being honest here!)
TJ Maxx always comes through with a great selection of party swag, so that’s where I snagged unicorn paper plates, napkins and cupcake toppers for super cheap. Add a couple balloons and some fresh flowers (our local grocery store had flowers with glitter on them, but that’d be an easy enough DIY to jazz up your bouquet) to give the table a more whimsical feel.
Aside from those few purchases, it’s all about the presentation of food! Cupcakes or cake always look adorable as a centerpiece, and I love trying to match finger foods to the rest of the decor (port wine cheese is a fave for anything pink!) Lastly, the punch! I served pink lemonade with fresh lemons and strawberries. Light, refreshing, and pretty to look at! Best part? Adults can add some sparkling wine or vodka to make the fact that they’re spending their Saturday afternoon at a kid’s party more bearable. Win-Win.
